"Leaving on a Jet Plane" is a song written and recorded by vocalist-songwriter John Denver[i] in 1966, originally included on his debut demo recording John Denver Sings as "Babe I Hate To Get". He fabricated several copies and gave them out every bit presents for Christmas of that year.[2] Denver's so producer Milt Okun convinced him to change the championship and was renamed "Leaving on a Jet Aeroplane" in 1967.

Lawsuit [edit]
In the 1980s, the vocal prompted litigation involving the British grouping New Order. The band's single "Run 2" (1989) was the subject of a lawsuit brought past Denver, who argued that its wordless guitar suspension was based on his "Leaving on a Jet Airplane". The example was settled out of court, and Denver subsequently received a co-author credit for the song.[19]
